Russian economy ministry sees 2016 inflation at 5.6%
ST. PETERSBURG, Dec 8 (PRIME) -- The Economic Development Ministry expects Russia’s inflation to amount to 5.6% in 2016, below the official forecast of 5.8%, Kirill Tremasov, director of the ministry’s macroeconomic forecast department, told reporters on Thursday.
“I think that annual inflation will stand at below our official forecast of 5.8%. It is important that the trend is continuing to develop in the direction of a further slowdown of inflation, and inflationary risks have been partially alleviated,” he said…
“I think that the inflation trend for a slowdown will continue. Right now, I see the most probable guidance at 5.6% as of the end of the year. I think that inflation in December will stand close to the levels of previous months, or at about 0.5% give or take.”
On Wednesday, the Federal State Statistics Service said that inflation reached 5.1% in the period from January 1 through Monday.
